![]() ![]() XYplorer is a simple to use file manager which replaces Windows Explorer. Also, very surprisingly, MPC-HC, even though it hasnt been in development for years. It also allows to edit file names and open/process the files IF the accepting application also uses the extended API function. There are multiple actions that you can perform on tabs, such as dragging, locking, renaming, and making them disappear. The only explorer alternative that does support long paths and long file names is total commander. Hey, Win11 Explorer has tabs at least! Not that it's any better, but if you augment it with PowerToys and QuickLook it's passable. More than 30 alternatives to choose: QT TabBar, Clover, freeCommander and more. XYplorer offers Tabs so that Windows administrators can easily navigate between several folders. Unique Explorer Replacement mode provides a full replacement for Windows. Tabbed interface let you keep multiple folders open and switch quickly between them. Single or dual pane file display and folder trees. If you're not scared of the command line and need to move/backup/sync a lot of data (or want to script it), then rsync is a solid choice, though Microsoft's own "robocopy" (yeah, terrible terrible name) is a good command line tool, though being MS it has it's own weird bizarre things going on.īut all of the replacements mentioned here are worth trying it out, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. Directory Opus is a complete replacement for Explorer, with far more power and functionality than any other file manager available today. Then I use PowerToys Run to quickly launch apps (Alt+space) then Everything for instant search (mapped to Win+alt+space). With File Explorer ever freezing and taking longer to load, One Commander fixes all these issues and adds. Integrates with Seer and/or QuickLook (just tap spacebar) for quick previews (can't live without it), and you can set TeraCopy for default file copying/moving. This is the best windows file explorer alternative. I personally use OneCommander, the basic version is free, though the pro license is something like 15€, well worth it in my opinion.
